My research investigates how the systems (such as metadata schemas, classification frameworks, or data documentation standards) through which knowledge gets documented, described, and accessed fail specific objects (such as dissertations, participatory media, or public datasets) and communities (such as international doctoral students, video gamers, or historically underrepresented and marginalized populations) they were never designed to serve. Using text mining, large language models, and machine learning, I diagnose those failures empirically and build open tools and datasets that make knowledge more findable, usable, and accountable for researchers and communities alike.
